Oscars Group expands to South Australia

Sydney-based hospitality company Oscars Group has expanded into South Australia with the purchase of three hotels
in Adelaide for approximately $80 million.

One of the largest privately-owned hospitality groups in NSW, Oscars Group has a portfolio of hotels and resorts, pubs, events centres, commercial and retail assets across the Eastern seaboard of Australia.

It includes Hotel Sweeney’s in the Sydney CBD, The Beachcomber Hotel and Resort on NSW’s Central Coast and Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise which was purchased for $100 million in 2022.

The Group also bought Sydney’s iconic Luna Park, one of Australia’s most recognisable amusement parks, in December 2024.

Its latest acquisitions are the Lakes Resort Hotel in West Lakes, the Bridgeway Hotel in Pooraka and the Maid and Magpie Hotel in Stepney.

Previously owned by the Fahey Hotel Group, the waterfront Lakes Resort Hotel features 72 guest rooms, function spaces and a retail liquor outlet, the Bridgeway underwent a major renovation in 2019 and the Maid Hotel has a popular beer garden that draws strong crowds year-round.

The deal was brokered by JLL’s John Musca

“We were excited by the portfolio opportunity that [commercial agency] JLL identified as a natural fit to our diversified hospitality interests and national growth strategy, and are grateful to the Fahey family for the carriage of these great businesses,” said Bill Gravanis, co-founder of Oscars Group.
