Champagne Joseph Perrier releases Bicentenary Cuvee

Champagne Joseph Perrier is marking its 200th anniversary with the release of a Bicentenary Cuvée in Australia.

Sixth-generation Chairman and CEO Benjamin Fourmon is visiting Australia – one of Joseph Perrier’s top five global markets – to unveil the exceptionally rare anniversary cuvée, Cuvée 200 Extra Brut.

The blend from the 2015 vintage was crafted by Benjamin’s father, Jean-Claude Fourmon. It marries Chardonnay from Premier Cru Cumières and Grand Cru Chouilly with Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. After eight years of ageing on lees, it has been released in a limited run of 2000 magnums and 1500 numbered jeroboams.

Jean-Claude Fourmon said: “To celebrate 200 years of family history, I designed a cuvée that embodies heritage and
transmission. Sharing this unique moment with my son Benjamin is more than a tasting; it’s the emotion of two centuries of excellence transmitted through each bubble.”

The Champagne House’s close relationship with Australia dates back to the 1970s when the legendary Dan Murphy personally selected Joseph Perrier as the first Champagne he would import.

Fourmon said: “Returning to Australia for Joseph Perrier’s 200th anniversary feels very special to me. My father came here in the early days of our maison’s journey in this country; it’s an honour to continue building that connection with a country I love.”

Cuvée 200 is available soon at The Cellar stores and LANGTONS for RRP $399.99.
