Mick Gibb has been announced as the new CEO of the Brewers Association of Australia, a week after stepping down from the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA).
Gibb resigned from the NTIA following a four-year tenure. During his time in the role he oversaw a period of significant policy reform and organisational growth. This included the NTIA playing an instrumental role in shaping and progressing three tranches of Vibrancy Reforms, removal of the final aspects of Sydney’s lockout laws and significant expansion of the NTIA’s membership.
Gibb replaces Amanda Watson, who announced in February that she was stepping down after just seven months in the role.
Brewers Association of Australia Chair James Brindley said: “We are delighted to welcome Mick as Chief Executive Officer of the Brewers Association of Australia.
“The Australian brewing industry plays an important role in our economy, our communities and our culture. Mick’s proven track record in leading industry organisations, driving growth and championing reform makes him exceptionally well placed to lead the Brewers Association and advocate for the future of Australian brewing.”
Gibb said: “The past four years have been some of the most rewarding in my career. Together with members, partners and Government we have achieved reforms that will have a profound impact on the night time economy for decades to come.
“I am excited to be joining the Brewers Association of Australia at such an important time for the industry. Beer is deeply woven into Australia’s social fabric and makes a substantial contribution to communities, employment, agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism across the country. It’s pleasing that the draught beer excise has been frozen for two years, but there is more work for us to do in getting a better deal for beer drinkers.”
Gibb will commence in his new role on 28 September 2026.
