Giant Suntory Minus 196 vending machine returns to SXSW Sydney

Suntory Minus 196 has made a comeback at SXSW Sydney with its 12-metre-tall EXTREME Vending Machine.

Extreme height aside, this years’ experience offers reimagined, neon-lit and teched up interiors.

Suntory Minus 196 has partnered with Newtown cult favourite Tokyo Taco to serve up a Suntory-style Japanese and Mexican fusion flavour-forward menu. Visitors can enjoy their Toki Glazed Kingfish taco alongside a Suntory Minus 196 Double Lemon, Double Peach or Double Grape.

Post taco feast, there are Tokyo Taco x Minus 196 Double Lemon soft serves, which can be enjoyed in the Minus 196 Lemon Garden, dotted with inflatable lemons.

The activation also features a DJ pumping the tunes as visitors head through three brand new immersive levels, including the rooftop bar, which features 360-degree views of SXSW Sydney and the city skyline.

The Suntory Minus 196 EXTREME Vending Machine is open every day from midday throughout the duration of SXSW Sydney ® (14-20 October 2024) at Tumbalong Park.

Over seven days and nights, Tumbalong Park in the heart of Sydney is being transformed into a hub of creativity as it plays host to world-class activations from leading brands, as well as inspiring talks, tech demos, live music, meet & greets, esports competitions.

SXSW Chair Geoff Jones said: “This year promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a host of incredible talent from all over the Globe ascending to Tumbalong Park. These seven days and nights will be filled with great entertainment, and I would highly recommend that all Sydney-siders join in on the festivities.”
