Schlenkerla joins International Brewers Collective 2025 line up

Sixth generation Schlenkerla head brewer Matthias Trum will give the keynote address at the 2025 International Brewers Collective.

The 2025 IBC will be held on 29 May 2025 prior to the GABS Beer Festival kicking off in Sydney.

Located in Bamberg’s UNESCO-listed old town, Schlenkerla Brewery has been crafting its iconic “Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier” since 1405.

Unlike typical Bavarian beers, Schlenkerla Rauchbier is brewed with smoked malt—a distinctive malt crafted by drying germinated barley over a slow-burning beechwood fire. This centuries-old method imparts a robust smokiness to the malt, creating the distinctive taste and dark colour that defines Schlenkerla’s Märzen-style beer, with a balanced 5.1% alcohol content and an original gravity of 13.5%.

The GABS International Brewers Collective (IBC) is an exclusive night where global brewing royalty converges to share experiences and insights with the brightest minds in the beer industry. Established as an annual industry gala dinner, IBC has become a beacon for brewing excellence, inviting renowned figures from across the globe to inspire Australia’s brewing network.

The event will be held in the Cockle Bay Room of the ICC Convention Centre. Tickets to attend can be purchased here: https://ibcsydney.com/.
