Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has produced a new drama series based on Ireland’s most famous brewing family: House of Guinness.
Eight one-hour episodes of House of Guinness will be directed by Tom Shankland (House of Cards, The Punisher, The Serpent) and Mounia Akl (Boiling Point, Costa Brava Lebanon).
Premiering on September 25, House of Guinness is set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, following the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery.
It focuses on the far-reaching impact of his will on the fates of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the phenomenon that is Guinness.
“It’s the extraordinary story of a family who happens to be the inheritors of the biggest brewery in the world. They’re young and are given the task of taking on this incredibly successful brand,” Knight said. “The first priority is: Don’t screw it up. And the second priority is to make Guinness even bigger.”

Guinness sales boom
The series will give an added boost to Guinness sales, which have buoyed owner Diageo’s fortunes during a difficult year. The brand delivered double digit growth globally and gained share in its three largest markets in the year ending 30 June 2025.
Guinness sales in Australia also significantly spiked during the British & Irish Lions Tour, with 1.2 million litres estimated to have been poured.
