Matt Damon pours beers at Andy Lee’s NY pub

Hollywood actor Matt Damon has made a surprise appearance at Andy Lee’s New York bar Old Mates Pub, pulling beers for patrons.

Damon joined Nova radio host Lauren Phillips behind the bar on Thursday night. The pair became friends during COVID-19 when they were neighbours during the pandemic lockdown in Byron Bay.

Described as New York’s ‘real Aussie Embassy’, Old Mates is backed by Aussie celebs including Hugh Jackman, Andy Lee, Hamish Blake.

The visit by Matt Damon follows Prime Minister Anthony Albanese pouring beers at the pub last month following his United Nations address.

“This is a great venue, I promised to come here when I did Andy Lee’s show,” Albanese said.

“Have a great night. It’s been a really proud occasion as an Australia’s Prime Minister to be here to talk to the United Nations tonight.

“It’s also really fun to be with you tonight. Thank you to this amazing bar, Australians know how to have fun!”

Old Mates serves Aussie beers including Bondi Lager, Balter XPA and Coopers.
