McWilliam’s Wines has taken out Best Australian Wine of Show at the 2025 Japan Wine Challenge, Asia’s most influential wine competition.
Among more than 1000 entries from 17 countries, McWilliam’s stood out as one of only two Australian producers to win a trophy, with its Hanwood Estate 20-Year-Old Rare Tawny winning Best Fortified Wine/New World Fortified Wine and Best Value Fortified Wine (Above ¥5,000), while Taylors Special Release Shiraz 2024 was awarded the trophy for Best New World Red Wine.

Adding to its success, McWilliam’s Hanwood Estate 20 Year Old Tawny was also awarded Best Fortified of Show at the 2025 NSW Wine Awards, marking the second consecutive year McWilliam’s has received this prestigious title.
McWilliam’s Wines was also awarded the prestigious 5 Red Star rating in the 2026 Halliday Wine Companion.
