Women in wine take centre stage at Sofitel Sydney

Atelier by Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour will mark International Women’s Day with an intimate Women in Wine Lunch, bringing together leading female voices from across the wine industry for an afternoon of conversation, collaboration and celebration.

Designed to spotlight women shaping wine at every level — from global leadership to independent hospitality — the event will pair a three-course seasonal menu with wines from one of Australia’s leading female winemakers, offering guests both technical excellence and insight into the stories behind the labels.

While women are increasingly visible across viticulture, winemaking and hospitality, representation at senior leadership, brand ownership and global recognition levels remains uneven. This event aims to contribute meaningfully to the conversation by creating a platform for dialogue, visibility and shared experience within the trade.

The lunch will feature a panel discussion with Vranken-Pommery Australia CEO Inge Fransen, Sommeliers Australia President Louella Mathews and Famelia founder Amelia Birch. Famelia is a wine bar and bottle shop based in Newtown, which offers carefully curated selection of woman-made wines from Australia and overseas, old world and new world, natural and traditional.

The discussion will be moderated by internationally recognised drinks communicator, sommelier and wine consultant Samantha Payne.

The event will be held on 6 March 2026, learn more here.
