The team behind TWØBAYS Brewing Co. is preparing to pull back the curtain on its Melbourne flagship, The Freehouse, a 170-capacity bar, kitchen and community hub.
Set to officially open its doors in August on Rokeby Street, Collingwood, the venue includes a casual pool table and games nook up front and a vibrant communal bar area, before transitioning into a dining experience tucked behind greenery at the back, alongside a premium private dining room for celebrations.
In the kitchen, the focus will be hyper-local and technique-driven, led by Head Chef Matt Kennedy (ex-Mr Myagi and Matteos). The Freehouse will debut a naturally gluten-free, produce-led menu championing Victorian growers and seasonal ingredients, shaped by a blend of South American flavours and European techniques.
Behind the bar, the tap list will showcase TWØBAYS brews alongside a rotating selection of independent Victorian wines.
Beyond food and drinks, the venue will regularly feature a curated lineup of local musical acts and visual artists, transforming the space into a dynamic cultural hub that champions Victoria’s diverse creative talent.
TWØBAYS Brewing Co. founder Richard Jeffares said: “We wanted to build a truly inclusive local where world-class food, outstanding beer, and true, Aussie hospitality collide.
“Whether you’re here for a quick pint after work, a celebratory dinner, to watch the game with mates or to play a game of pool, everyone has a seat at our table.”
The ambitious project marks a major milestone for the Mornington Peninsula-born brewery, expanding its footprint into Melbourne’s inner-north with a permanent hospitality hub.
