Top 10 most valuable whisky brands

Jack Daniel's Old Fashioned

Brand Finance’s Alcoholic Drinks 2026 report has revealed the world’s top 10 whisky brands, bringing together some of the biggest names across American whiskey, Scotch, Canadian whisky, Japanese whisky, Indian whisky and Irish whiskey.

Jack Daniel’s leads the 2026 whisky ranking with a brand value of $US4.1 billion. Johnnie Walker ranks second at $US2.8 billion, followed by Crown Royal at $US2.7 billion.

The wider list shows how diverse the category has become. The Macallan ranks fourth at $US1.3 billion, while Suntory Whisky places fifth at $US1.1 billion. Royal Stag, Ballantine’s, Chivas Regal, McDowell’s and Jameson complete the top 10, highlighting a category shaped by premium cues, regional scale and very different consumer occasions.

However, Brand Finance said Scotch was facing a difficult backdrop. Chivas Regal is down 32% to $US900 million, and Johnnie Walker has declined 10% to $US2.8 billion, while Glenfiddich is the exception, growing 13% to $US493 million.

Scotch Whisky Association data shows the impact of US tariffs on Scotch exports in 2025, adding further pressure to a category already navigating softer consumer demand and higher operating costs. English whisky’s new protected status reinforces how provenance, craft, and regional authenticity are becoming more important in whisky, even as the highest-value brands remain led by established global names.

World’s strongest spirits brand

In terms of brand strength, Diageo’s blended Canadian whisky Crown Royal (brand value up 12% to $US2.7 billion) claims the title of the world’s strongest spirits brand, achieving a BSI score of 96/100 and an AAA+ brand strength rating.

Brand Finance market research data shows the brand scores particularly well in the US on credibility and price acceptance, reinforcing its strong consumer trust and perceived value.

The brand’s ready-to-drink innovation strengthens its relevance among younger legal-drinking-age consumers. Its cocktails, including whisky lemonade and whisky-and-cola formats, allow the brand to appear in more casual, convenient and single-serve occasions beyond traditional whisky consumption.
