The only top 5 whisky brand in growth

The majority of million-case-selling Scotch whisky brands reported a drop in volume sales in 2023, with just one of the top five biggest sellers seeing growth.

The success story was William Grant & Sons’ Grant’s label, which celebrated volume sales hitting the highest level in five years. In 2023 Grants experienced 3.4% in growth, propelling the brand to reach 4.4 million cases last year.

The result put Grant’s in fourth place on the top five list, behind Johnnie Walker, Ballantine’s and Chivas Regal, which all experienced sales declines.

The blended Scotch is produced at Girvan Distillery, which was built in 1963 in South Ayrshire, Scotland. But it has a history dating back to 1898 and is now sold in more than 180 countries globally.

Among its many awards, Grant’s won the Blended Scotch Whisky Trophy at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2019 for its 12-Year-Old Blended Scotch Whisky, following a huge year of sales growth and the release of a new bottle design.

According to Master Blender Brian Kinsman Grant’s success comes down to “our teams’ continued dedication and drive to ensure our drams remain the best in the valley, and we look forward to continuing this success over the years to come.”

William Grant has also seen huge sales for Grant’s since entering India in 2014, which is now the world’s largest Scotch whisky market.
