Following the huge success of its first batch of Tokay Barrel Whisky, Morris has announced it is launching a new edition of the spirit.

The initial release was an exclusive collaboration with The Whisky Club and was voted favourite Australian Whisky
of The Year by The Whisky Club members. It picked up Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, as well as Master at the Spirits Business Luxury Masters.

The second release will permanently join the core range of award-winning Morris Australian Single Malt Whiskies.

Produced solely from Australian ingredients, this time around Tokay Barrel release is matured predominately in toasted French oak, before finishing in barrels that have held the award-winning 15-year-old Morris Cellar Reserve Grand Topaque.

The liquid embodies the characteristic Rutherglen Topaque style of delicate fresh fruit and ripe muscadelle grapes, intertwined with notes of creamy butterscotch and caramelised oak, with an additional hint of toasted spice for subtle complexity.

The second release of Morris Tokay Barrel has already been awarded Platinum at the USA SIP Awards and a Gold at the International Spirits Challenge in 2023.

Morris prepares to open new distillery

Morris Whisky is also set to unveil its new multi-million-dollar distillery in Victoria’s Rutherglen district in late 2023.

The renovation will bring together the world of Morris of Rutherglen Wines, ones of the world’s most awarded wineries, Australian single malt whisky, and whisky education to become a destination to taste wine and whisky together.
