Women of Australian Distilling holds its first mixer

Women of Australian Distilling will hold its first official mixer event for 2023 at Archie Rose Distillery on July 20.

The collective promotes, encourages and supports women and gender diverse people within the Australian craft distilling industry, with the event aiming to build meaningful relationships within a male-dominated industry.

Women of Australian Distilling collaborates with the industry’s peak associations and organisations and aims to support career development for women in the field of distilling, ambassadorship, marketing, administration, management, cellar door operations and more.

Founder and Chairperson of Women of Australian Distilling Kathleen Davies said: “You’ve heard about the gender pay gap but there’s another gap that’s just as important, though much less discussed, the networking gap.

“We’re holding a mixer to bring people together from all over Australia for a night of cocktails, delicious food and meaningful conversations, to hopefully do our part in promoting professional networking.”

The event will be hosted by Ev Liong from Archie Rose, who will discuss the importance of professional networking. The keynote speaker will be National Ambassador for James B. Beam Distilling Co Alice Newport (pictured main), who will share her insights on her career and role as an ambassador.

“It’s great that people from all aspects of the distilling industry can come together and build relationships with people that they perhaps usually wouldn’t,” Women in Australian Distilling Marketing Executive Keeley Proudfoot said.

“It’s also a meaningful experience to be able to hear from Alice, so that they can think about their own distilleries
and whether a brand ambassador opportunity would be right for them.”

The evening is being sponsored by Manildra, with co-sponsors NOC Wholesale and Spirits & Cocktails Australia.
