STOLI Vodka has partnered with Golden Age Cinema and Bar to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic film The Adventures Of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
It’s the perfect pairing, as STOLI played a starring role in the film, including Bernadette famously announcing to an outback bartender: “Hello. Could I please have a STOLI and tonic, a Bloody Mary and a lime daiquiri?”
In fact, STOLI was the spirit of choice throughout the movie for the three lead characters, played by Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terence Stamp, as they travelled in a rickety old bus from Sydney to perform in Alice Springs.
Martini and Movie Mondays at the Surry Hills cinema will feature bespoke STOLI martinis, weekly screenings of the beloved movie and a vibrant atmosphere that pays homage to the film’s vivacious spirit, including drag queen Only Hollywould DJing in the bar.
Miss Martini aka Ana Page has crafted a bespoke menu inspired by The Adventures Of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, featuring four unique martinis.
Ticket holders will be able to choose from; ‘Frock on a Rock’ a herbaceous delight featuring the iconic STOLI Premium Vodka, ‘Go West’ with STOLI Vanilla Vodka combining vanilla and tropical notes, ‘Shake Your Groove’, Ana’s twist on an espresso martini with STOLI Salted Karamel Vodka, and ‘Queen of the Desert’, the classic margarita reimagined in martini form featuring STOLI Cucumber Vodka.
The festivities kick off on Monday, September 16 and continue for three consecutive Monday evenings through to the end of September.
Drinks Digest attended the premiere screening of the film, which included a few very special guests, and we can confirm it was one of favourite Monday nights in memory.
Our favourite cocktail of the night was the Queen of the Desert (above) and Only Hollywould added a fantastic vibe to the Golden Age Bar as we sipped our drinks.
