World Drinks Awards name Australia’s best gins

The World Drinks Awards has announced its round one winners for 2025, with Australia’s best gins taking out an epic 57 medals, including 17 Golds.

Every year, the World Drinks Awards showcases the best people and products in the global drinks industry. For the 2025 competition, thousands of entries were received across all drinks categories, with judges meticulously tasted and critiqued every one.

“There was an exceptional products from an incredibly diverse range of drinks producers and global industry professionals,” the award program said.

“The event was attended by people from all corners of the industry, including distillers, brand ambassadors, sales teams, educators, writers, marketing teams and our expert judging panel.”

The next and final stage of the competition will see the round one winners compete against one another to determine which entries deserve the World’s Best title. The World’s Best winners will be announced on 4 June 2025.

Never Never Distilling Co Southern Strength Gin took out Gold and been named Australia’s Best Classic Gin at the World Drinks Awards 2025.

Other Australian winners in the Classic Gin category included Broken Hill Distillery Far West Gin (Gold), Bright Night Wild Tasmanian Gin (Silver), Forty Spotted Classic (Silver), Tasmaniac Distillers Classic Gin (Silver) and Pure Origin Tasmanian Gin (Bronze).

In the colour-changing gin category, Prohibition Liquor Co. Moonlight Gin won Gold and was named Country winner, Critters Distillery Blue Bottle Gin won Silver and Island Coast Spirits Butterfly Pea Flower Gin won Bronze.

In the Compound Gin category, Tonalicious Spirit Co Lucky 13 won Gold and was named Australian Country winner.

There were a slew of Aussie medals in the Contemporary Style Gin category. HM Gin Seven Spice Chai Gin won Gold and was declared Country Winner. Lily Fields Distilling Co Sydney Dry Gin and Never Never Distilling Co Pink Pepper Gin both took out Gold.

23rd Street Distillery Signature Gin won Silver, alongside Beachtree Distilling Co. Organic Koala Gin (Silver), Bush Bloom Distillery Full Bloom – Summer Gin (Silver) and Critters Distillery Native Gin (Bronze).

Four Pillars picked up four medals in the Contemporary Style Gin category: Spice Negroni Gin (Silver), Olive Leaf Gin (Silver), Fresh Yuzu Gin (Bronze) and Rare Dry Gin (Bronze); while Hickson House Distilling Co took out Silver for its Oyster Shell Gin and Bronze for its Australian Dry Gin.

Manly Spirits Lilly Pilly Pink Gin and Tan Lines Distilling Signature Gin won Silver. Little Ridge Distillery Citrus won Bronze, alongside Never Never Distilling Co Oyster Shell Gin (Bronze) and Saint Felix Distillery Wild Forest Gin (Bronze)

In the Flavoured Gin category, Forty Spotted Pinot Noir Gin won Gold and was declared Country Winner. Barossa Distilling Co. Barossa Shiraz Gin also won Gold. Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin was awarded Silver, alongside Prohibition Liquor Co. Field Blend Shiraz Gin.

23rd Street Distillery Raspberry and Finger Lime Gin won Bronze, as did Four Pillars Bloody Pinot Gin and Hobart Whisky Tasmanian Olive Gin.

In the London Dry Gin category Callington Mill Distillery Poltergeist Citrus Gin won Gold and was named Country Winner. Never Never Distilling Co Triple Juniper Gin and South Coast Distillery Limited Release London Dry Gin won Gold.

Hickson House Distilling Co Classic Dry Gin, Little Ridge Distillery On the Ridge, Never Never Distilling Co Export Strength Triple Juniper took out Silver.

Callington Mill Distillery Poltergeist Unfiltered Gin won Bronze, as did Lily Fields Distilling Co Juniper Dry Gin.

Prohibition Liquor Co. Juniperus Gin and Tom Likker Botanical Likker won Bronze.

In the Matured Gin Broken Hill Distillery Outback Strength won Gold and was named Country Winner, while Callington Mill Distillery Poltergeist Barrel Aged Gin won Silver.

In the Navy Gin category, Hickson House Distilling Co Harbour Strength Gin, Never Never Distilling Co Juniper Freak Gin and Prohibition Liquor Co. Navy Strength Gin won Silver, while Broken Hill Distillery 6:45 GIN, HM Gin Amy’s Navy and Wild Flower Gin Distilling Navy Strength won Bronze.

The Australian Old Tom Gin Gold and Country winner was Tonalicious Spirit Co Rogue Tom.

Among the Signature Botanical Gins, Broken Hill Distillery Saltbush Gin won Gold and was named Country Winner. Roaming Spirits Signature Olive Gin also won Gold.

Broken Hill Distillery Remembrance Gin took out Silver, while Farmers Wife Distillery Autumn Dry Gin won Bronze.

And in the Sloe Gin category, Adams Sloe Gin won Gold and was Country Winner, while Beachtree Distilling Co. Native Plum & Sloe Gin also won Gold.
