Hirsch Wine Group has launched La Chica Con Tinta, a new range featuring two emerging varietals: Arinto and Garnacha.
Translated from Spanish as ‘the girl with tattoos’, La Chica Con Tinta has been brought to life under the supervision of renowned Chief Winemaker Peter Mackey.
The project holds personal significance for Hirsch Wine Group CEO Ben Hirsch and Mackey, who both share a strong affinity for Spanish and Latin American culture. Hirsch has lived in Spain, Mackey has worked as a winemaker in Chile and both speak Spanish.
The 2025 Arinto is a lively Heathcote white that captures the sun-drenched spirit of Portugal, reimagined through Australian soil. Layers of bright citrus, juicy melon and ripe stone fruit intertwine with hints of delicate florals and a lift of citrus zest. Crisp yet generous, La Chica Con Tinta’s Arinto reveals grapefruit and subtle brioche over a fine line of acidity, finishing with a textured, refreshing edge.
The 2025 Garnacha, a vibrant medium-bodied Heathcote red, delivers a delicate savoury edge. This Spanish-inspired red is layered with fragrant red berries, strawberry and cherry, then lifted by hints of clove, orange rind and spice. It’s designed to be served chilled and promises to take you back to the energy, fragrance and flavours of Spain.
Mackey said the wines showcase how Old World grapes can flourish under Australian skies. The Arinto and Garnacha grapes are crafted in small batches from carefully selected parcels in Heathcote, a region known for its ancient soils and generous sunshine. The result are wines that are vibrant, full of depth and origin-lead.
