Coca-Cola launches new K-pop flavour

Coca-Cola has introduced a K-Pop inspired flavour to its Creations line-up in Australia, called Coca-Cola K-Wave.

The launch of the new Creation will give fans access to a suite of music-focused digital and IRL experiences featuring some of the genre’s biggest stars. Frozen Coca-Cola K-Wave will also be available exclusively at McDonalds restaurants across Australia.

To celebrate the new limited-edition flavour, three of the hottest K-Pop groups, Stray Kids, ITZY, and NMIXX, as well as the founder of JYP Entertainment, J.Y. Park, have teamed up for a K-Pop anthem song and music video called “Like Magic,” produced by J.Y. Park. The full song and video can be viewed on JYP Entertainment’s YouTube channel.

By scanning the QR code on the can, Aussie fans have the chance to embark on the “Like Magic” Fan Music Video AI Experience, an AI-powered experience that allows fans to participate directly in the vibrant world of a K-Pop music video, sharing the screen with their idols.

Fans can make a cameo appearance in the Fan Music Video of “Like Magic” by embedding their voice, name, and face into various segments of the K-Wave anthem song and music video. Users can easily download and share their personalised music video cameo with friends on social media.

The new Coca-Cola K-Wave Zero Sugar flavour is available in 250ml cans from 22 April in grocery and convenience stores.

And what does it taste like? According to Food Network: “We tried K-Wave Zero Sugar at a recent event hosted by Coca-Cola and found the strongest fruit note to be that of banana, along with the flavour of Coke Zero Sugar.”

“We’re thrilled to bring Coca-Cola K-Wave to Australia, a flavour that not only tastes great but offers fans a fun way to connect with their favourite K-Pop artists and be part of the music they love,” said Kate Miller, Senior Marketing Director at Coca-Cola South Pacific. “Coca-Cola is dedicated to bringing exciting new flavours and experiences to fans, and we can’t wait for people to try it and experience the magic of K-Wave.”

Coca-Cola® Creations will sponsor SBS’s epic “K-Wave Concert Inkigayo” in Inspire Arena, Seoul, South Korea on 2 June where Aussie fans can watch and follow the action online.

“The world of K-Pop exists because of the fans, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate fans’ devotion to the artists and music that they love, through this unique Creation” said J.Y. Park, founder of JYP Entertainment. “We hope fans feel the love and appreciation we have for their support through the launch of a new Coca-Cola flavour dedicated to their fandom and digital and physical experiences that connect them even more to their favorite artists.”
