Adelaide Hills winery Petaluma has unveiled the new vintages from its flagship Yellow Label range.

The latest release features the 2019 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay, 2018 B&V Vineyard Adelaide Hills Shiraz, 2015 Evans Vineyard Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot, 2020 Hanlin Hill Clare Valley Riesling and 2018 Coonawarra Merlot.

As producer of Croser sparkling wines, Petaluma has also released the 2006 Croser Late Disgorged Piccadilly Valley, the most premium wine from Croser’s sparkling portfolio.

Senior Winemaker Mike Mudge said: “Every year these wines are our pride and joy and the 2020 Vintage Release is no exception. This year’s Yellow Label wines epitomise the style that Petaluma is known for by using only the finest fruit picked by hand to
ensure optimum quality from the varied terrain.

“All wines are drinking beautifully now however they will reward those with the patience to carefully cellar and enjoy with generous bottle age. After a tough end to 2019 and navigating the uncertainties at the beginning of 2020, we are excited to release these highly anticipated wines to the world.”

As the coolest viticultural region in South Australia, Piccadilly Valley in Adelaide Hills creates a modern style Chardonnay. Petaluma describes it as “delicate in flavour with high natural acidity. Full of white and yellow stone fruits with a subtle cedar and spice oak complexity.”

The 2018 Petaluma Yellow Label B&V Vineyard Adelaide Hills Shiraz displays red berry fruits layered in white pepper and spice, “creating a ripe but elegantly structured wine perfect to enjoy now or, will age gracefully with five years to fifteen years of careful cellaring”.

Another highlight of the collection is the 2015 Evans Vineyard Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot is described as “a classic example of a Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot blend that is drinking well now but a wine that age elegantly for decades to come”.
