MOJO launches Kombucha Soda range

Fermented beverage pioneer MOJO has expanding its range of gut health-centric products with the launch of MOJO Kombucha Soda – a kombucha with fibre that offers a prebiotic effect to support gut health.

Designed to support a different aspect of gut health than regular fermented beverages, MOJO Kombucha Soda is made with prebiotic fibre, the favourite snack of our good gut bugs. Launching in three varieties, the new range is described as being perfect for people seeking a tasty low sugar drink or a satisfying alternative to alcohol.

Nutrition scientist and dietitian, Dr Joanna McMillan, explained “Prebiotics are types of fibre that stimulate the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut. They’re found in lots of fruits and vegetables like artichoke, garlic, onion and asparagus, bananas, apples and wholegrains like barley and oats. These fibres can’t be digested, so they pass through the digestive system and become dinner for our good bacteria.

“Incorporating prebiotic fibre to feed our good bugs means our microbiome can function effectively. Our gut is central to all interaction between our diet and our health. If our gut is not healthy, then we cannot get all the nutrients we need from the food and drinks we consume.”

“We understand that gut health support is far more complex than just probiotics,” added MOJO CEO Anthony Crabb, who first started making kombucha in his back shed in Adelaide in 2009.

Back then Crabb started selling bottles to local health food stores and at farmers markets. Today, the business has more than 4000 distributors across the country. Crabb is excited to be expanding the MOJO range once again.

“Our team set out to create a tasty and convenient way for people to add to the prebiotic fibre in their daily routine, ensuring that our products are helping supporting the health of Australian microbiomes in a way that is new in the kombucha category.

“We’re continuing our mission to help people understand gut health and discover how good it feels when you go with your gut.”

Analysts have forecast the kombucha industry could grow to US$1.8 billion in sales by the end of 2021, as consumers become increasingly health-conscious.

MOJO Kombucha Soda is low in sugar, stevia free and contains 2.5g dietary fibre per serve. It contains no live cultures, so it doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge until you’re ready to chill and serve it.

There are three varieties available:

  • Tropical Twirl – mango, passionfruit and citrus meet in this tangy tropical fun fermented fizz with prebiotic fibre.
  • Cola Kiss – a non-traditional take on Cola balances sweet spiced notes with fresh and tangy citrus.
  • Berry Blitz – a blend of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries.

RRP $2.39 per can, $8.99 per multipack. Available now at good independent retailers across Australia.
