That’s Christmas sorted: Bundy releases Rum Ball Liqueur

Bundaberg Rum has unveiled Rum Ball Liqueur, a new limited-edition rum to kick off the holiday – and summer – season.

Bundaberg Rum Ball Liqueur has notes of warming rum, sweet spice, biscuit, vanilla, cocoa and coconut. And it’s already been a massive hit on social media – the distillery teased the release in July on Facebook, with the news attracting 15,000 comments and 3000 shares.

“We see Rum Ball recipes peak every year in the lead up to Christmas, so we’ve been thinking, why just eat Rum Balls when you could drink them too?” said Duncan Littler, Bundaberg Rum Distillery Marketing & Experience Manager.

“The Famous Bundy Rum Distillers have been hard at work developing a special festive drink featuring Bundaberg Original rum distilled with the finest Christmas flavours to create the ultimate Rum Ball Liqueur in time for the holidays.”

The liqueur can be enjoyed neat over ice, or add a scoop of ice cream in a short glass, pour over Bundaberg Rum Ball Liqueur then sprinkle a crumbled Rum Ball on top.

Bundaberg Rum has a famous range of liqueurs that are distillery exclusives, with Rum Ball Liqueur the first release available nationally. It’s available now to purchase across Australia for RRP $49.95 AUD (700 ml, ABV 20%) until stocks last. Or visit the Bundy website.

Australian rum triumphs at International Spirits Challenge

In July, the Bundaberg Rum Distillery won the coveted International Spirits Challenge 2021 award for best distillery tour, plus Gold medals in the visitor centre category and for its Bundaberg Master Distillers Collection Small Batch Distillery Edition Rum.

The ISC noted: “Over the past year, under limited capacity, the visitor centre has offered a self-guided museum tour, expert-led tours through the operational distillery and a blending experience for guests to create their own rum straight from the barrel.”

The brand also announced it was offering COVID-19 support to a further 300 pubs, clubs and bars across the country that were feeling the impact of the current public health restrictions and lockdowns.

Bundaberg Rum’s $11.5 million Raising the Bar hospitality industry relief fund has already donated essential health and safety supplies and outdoor socialising equipment to more than 2000 licensed venues across the country.

Angus McPherson (above, left), Managing Director of Bundaberg Rum’s parent company Diageo Australia, said: “Raising the Bar is an $11.5 million initiative designed to support the hospitality industry through an enormously challenging period.

“Our hearts go out to hard working hospitality business owners and workers who had hoped for a busy winter holiday period, but have instead found themselves again having to shut their doors.”
