The annual Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned Week will return to Australia from November 4, with bars around the country raising a glass to the world’s number one cocktail.

Founded in Paris in 2015 by Michael Landart and Cyrille Hugon, Old Fashioned Week has been a mainstay at over 1000 of the finest bars globally for eight years. Woodford Reserve officially took over the reins in 2020 – after working closely with the founders since its inception.

The classic Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned recipe features 45ml Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select, 10ml  sugar syrup and two dashes aromatic bitter, stirred in a mixing glass, strained over an ice-filled glass and garnished with lemon twist.

This year Old Fashioned Week it has been expanded to be a 14-day celebration and, for the first time, whiskey lovers across the nation will be able to get their hands on a complimentary Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned at over 40 of the country’s finest bars, including Doss House (Sydney, NSW), The Carlton, (Melbourne, VIC), Foxtrot Unicorn (Perth, WA), Nola (Adelaide, SA), The Caxton (Brisbane, QLD) and more.

Continuing the celebrations into the second week on Thursday, 16 November, Top 50 bar from Athens, The Bar in Front of the Bar will take part in an international bar swap, bringing its bold and quirky concept, infused with humour and attention-grabbing zero-waste cocktail mentality to Sydney bar Maybe Sammy, including plenty of Old Fashioned twists and bubble gun fun to be had!

Maybe Sammy will then be heading to Athens to show them exactly what Australia has to offer in a great exchange, sharing the desire for cocktails, internationally.
