The Margarita is one of Australia’s favourite cocktails, but squeezing endless limes for them at summer soirees isn’t anyone’s idea of fun. Fortunately an Aussie couple have created an ingenious hack for the popular cocktail.

Called Naked Rivals, the product was founded by Kate and Andrew Gordon in October 2022 and its frozen lime and lemon cubes have been an instant hit.

The concept of Naked Rivals was born when the couple started drinking lemon water for their daily gut health routine.

“As time went on, the daily grind of squeezing lemons became less appealing, not to mention increasingly expensive and we thought, ‘surely there’s a better way to do this?’” said Andrew Gordon.

Within a week of coming up with the idea for frozen juice cubes, the Gordons had designed their own concept packaging and within four weeks of launch they were stocked in 200 independent supermarkets.

While lemon water was the initial inspiration for the product, the Gordons admit the number one comment they receive is on how fabulous the cubes are for Margaritas. 

“My wife and I were at a party a few months ago and the host was making a massive batch,” Gordon said. 

“She was squeezing more than 100 limes and her hands were red raw by the end if it, but she was more annoyed that we didn’t mention we were about to launch the business.

“We also use the cubes when we make smoothies, but even on our social feeds we constantly hear the words ‘frozen Margaritas in half the time’! I think people love the convenience of the product and they can access fresh lime for a good price. Have you seen limes this month? They’re $17 a kilo!”

Each pack of Naked Rivals 100% Lime Juice contains the juice of six limes, which is the perfect amount for knocking up a batch of Margaritas at a moment’s notice.

“We also realised just how frustrating it is when you squeeze a lemon or lime and get an inconsistent amount of juice for your money,” Gordon said.
