Just in time for St Patrick’s Day, Irish whiskey brand Two Stacks has released its world-first ‘Dram in a Can’ in Australia.
Founded in 2020, Two Stacks draws inspiration from the traditions of centuries-old production methods and then adds its own unique and contemporary style. In 2022, the brand opened one of Ireland’s only independent bonding and blending facilities based in County Down.
More than one million cans of the product have been sold globally since its launch in 2021. The 100ml serving, weighing only 22g, is more than eight times lighter than conventional miniature 5cl glass bottles, making it easier and more sustainable to pack and transport globally.

Co-founder Shane McCarthy said: “We are committed to establishing fresh benchmarks of excellence in Irish whiskey while promoting sustainability and accessibility in every facet of our endeavours. Our distinctive method of collaboration with premier distilleries across Ireland empowers us to craft and present unprecedented expressions of whiskey while also meeting our goal of cutting our carbon footprint and innovating sustainable practices within the industry.
“Our Dram in a Can set a benchmark in sustainable packaging, offering consumers an affordable Irish Whiskey drinking experience while also offsetting our carbon emissions. The product is already a bestseller in Europe. As the Two Stack brand continues to grow and expand, we’re thrilled that Australians can experience our products in an environmentally friendly way.”
Dram in a Can is available at Dan Murphy’s and is priced at $47.99 for a four pack.

Irish whiskey’s spectacular growth saw global export sales reach 15.2 million cases in 2022.
St Patrick’s Day in Australia
According to Census data around seven million Australians have some Irish ancestry and many thousands of them celebrate St Patrick’s Day on March 17.
St Patrick is a Catholic saint who has been credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century.
St Patrick’s Day is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador (for provincial government employees), and the British Overseas Territory of Montserrat.

In Australia a march and festival takes place in Sydney’s The Rocks each year, in addition to Irish pubs around the country marking the occasion.
Festivities in The Rocks’s will kick off with The Mercantile’s annual traditional Irish breakfast and plenty of other venues joining in on the rich Irish culture and hospitality across the weekend. The Rocks will continue to come alive with the official festival on Sunday 17 March, where the air will be filled with the sounds of lively music and captivating dance.
