The Cointreau Margarita Challenge has returned, with one talented Australian bartender getting the chance to represent Australia in the international final.
This year, the 2024 Cointreau Margarita Challenge invites participants to craft their unique spin on the classic Margarita, capturing the essence and vibrancy of their city. Bartenders are encouraged to infuse local ingredients, paying homage to their culture and identity.
The International winner of the Cointreau Margarita Challenge 2024 will be decided by a distinguished panel of judges, including renowned bartenders like Lola Liu, who won the Cointreau Margarita Challenge 2023.
The judging criteria will be comprised of four key elements, skills that demonstrate expertise in experimenting with local ingredients and traditional or innovative methods, ingredients that represent flavours of their city’s culture plus a minimum of 25 ml Cointreau and salt, storytelling that offers insight into the cocktail’s inspirations and the visual quality that complements the cocktail’s personality.
The Australian competition will be held at Now & Then, Sydney on 15 April 2024, where eight finalists will compete for the Australian title.
The Australian winner will then head to Angers, France, the home of Cointreau. During the three-day immersive experience, they will participate in mixology challenges and vie for the title of International Cointreau Margarita Challenge 2024 winner. Additionally, the winner will embark on a sponsored tour, showcasing their city-inspired Margarita at Cointreau’s selection of the world’s best cocktail bars.
