Zonzo Estate relaunches premixed Bellini

The wine innovators behind the hugely successful Zoncello Spritz have relaunched their premixed Bellini, now dubbed ‘Bellina’.

The Zonzo Estate Bellini was Australia’s first-ever bottled one of its kind, combining locally sourced juicy peach nectar and award-winning Zonzo Estate Prosecco, ready to be popped and poured. Originally made as a gift for Director Rod Micallef’s wife Crissy, the Bellini has always been a proud product in the Zonzo stable.

After having seen the exponential rise of Zoncello Spritz in the last 12 months, it was decided the Bellini needed a makeover. The colour palette used in the new design strongly references Venice and its many magical motifs. The font on the new Bellina label was designed to represent Venetian Arches, while the red and white stripes on the neck of the bottle are representative of the stripes of a Gondolier’s shirt or neck-tie. Even the blue is a nod to the famous Venetian canals, while the peachy hues are reminiscent of terracotta-toned buildings.

“The first time I ever tried a Bellini was after one of my friends went to Venice and brought me back a small bottle of Bellini mixer from Harry’s Bar in Venice, where the Bellini was invented,” said Micallef.

“It was delicious and I have never forgotten it.”

Exponential Australian growth

Endeavour Group’s Buying and Merchandising Director Tim Carroll told a recent supplier forum that Yarra Valley wine producer Zonzo Estate had seen “exponential growth” for Zoncello.

“Zonzo Director Rod Micallef has been creating the Italian classic Limoncello at home for more than two decades before he decided to make it commercial and luckily he did,” Carroll said.

“Its soaring popularity has resonated not only with younger audiences with sweeter palettes but also older drinkers who see it as a nod to Italian history. This has been an incredible example of innovation, following consumer trends feeding back into an established brand story.”

In February Endeavour Group CEO Steve Donohue said the wine category was back in growth for the retailer following the release of Zoncello.

Zonzo Estate’s ‘Bellina’ is a traditional aperitif, best served with an antipasto platter or a cheese board before a meal.

Bellina is now available at Zonzo Estate, here. It is also stocked at Dan Murphy’s stores nationally, as well as independent retailers. RRP $25 per bottle.
