Tried and tested: QT Newcastle’s decadent high tea

QT Newcastle has launched an indulgent high tea experience called QTea featuring creations by Cakeboi and Ketel Iced Tea cocktails and Drinks Digest can confirm it’s divine!

If you’re looking for a special treat for your mum ahead of Mother’s Day on 12 May 2024, QTea definitely hits the spot.

Served in the hotel’s signature restaurant, Jana, the two-course feast features a spectacular mix of sweet and savoury dishes.

We sampled the menu last weekend to celebrate our matriarch’s 81st birthday, kicking off with QTea’s signature Ketel Iced Tea cocktail, which features local tea merchant The Tea Collective’s berry tea infused with Ketel One Vodka.

We then worked our way through tiered savouries by QT Newcastle’s award-winning chef, including charcoal bread smoked salmon finger sandwiches, duck leg croquette and mini merguez sausage pies.

Executive Chef Shayne Mansfield has also welcomed Dessert King, Reece Hignell of Cakeboi, into the kitchen to collaborate on the high tea activation.

We happily devoured his delicious baked treats including honey cake and Victoria strawberry sponge.

The experience was made extra special by the attentive staff and stylish ambience of the space, which was filled with happy diners.

Mum’s verdict: the best high tea in town.

The QTea high tea experience is available to book from $75 per guest on Saturdays at QT Newcastle, with sittings from 12pm to 3pm.
