Raise a tinnie at the Newtown Jets Welcome Day

The Newtown Jets’ annual Welcome Day is being held on 8 June at Henson Park, Marrickville, in partnership with The Music & Booze Co.

The rugby league team’s much-loved event is an opportunity to indulge in a feast of spirits and culinary delights, with beats supplied by Heaps Gay DJs curated by Kat Dopper, plus a performance by Newtown’s iconic Welcome Choir.

The Jets will once again welcome down the Petersham Rugby Clubs womens and mens sides to open proceedings with a couple of local derbies. The women will kick things off, taking on arch rivals the Briars, followed closely by the men clashing with Canterbury RFC, leading up to the main game between the Newtown Jets and the Sydney Roosters.

Philter will be supplying local brews including Henson Park Draught – the official beer of the Newtown Jets and named named after the team’s iconic home ground.

Distillers Brix Rum, Fellr, Poor Toms, Lily fields Gin, Goodradigbee Distillers and Archie Rose will also be joining the festivities.

Mr Charlies will be slinging vegan burgers and fries alongside vegan players Vege4love, Morleys, Vejoes and White Peal Pizzeria. Also joining is local favourite Yullis and the unique cross-cultural Tokyo Taco, alongside the country’s only Kombucha Ice cream van, Mr Booch.

Tickets are $22 for adults and $10 for kids. And for those families who want to bring littles ones along, kids under 12 can enjoy free entry. Learn more here.
