Glen Moray Whisky is celebrating the dual delights of Sydney Whisky Month and Vivid Sydney at Sydney’s Grain Bar with a ‘Fireplace Seduction’ experience until 16 June 2024.
The experience includes an exclusive flight of some of the distiller’s most interesting whiskies beside the bar’s fireplace. For those who prefer their whisky in cocktail form, the Narcotic Delight will also be served, which blends Glen Moray Classic Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a red wine float, ginger, honey, lemon and clarified milk.
Patrons also enjoy a food pairing of gruyere fondue with all the trappings, then end the evening on a sweet note with an edit of rich chocolate truffles.
Glen Moray Masterclass magic
Glen Moray also kicked off its Sydney Whisky Month celebrations with a whisky masterclass at Grain Bar hosted by Global Brand Ambassador Iain Allan with cocktails by Door Knock Bar bartender Judith Zhu.
Allan has been with the distillery for 20 years and is extremely good at his job, he effortlessly weaves tasting notes with fascinating tales from Speyside.

It was a fascinating opportunity to experience how Glen Moray’s stunning whiskies pair seamlessly with native Australian
products. Guests were greeted on arrival with a welcome cocktail featuring Glen Moray’s Classic Cask blended with clarified mango and lemon myrtle, accentuating the citrussy notes within the whisky.
Allan then took participants on a foray into new and innovative flavours, including the distillery’s latest Cask Explorer whisky – Shiraz Finish. The Shiraz Finish whisky is an Australian exclusive, having been launched in Dan Murphy’s at the end
of last year.

Midway through the flight, Zhu (above) served her superb take on the Whisky Sour – the Gum & Glen Sour – with Glen Moray Shiraz Finish, lemon, strawberry gum and aromatic bitters.

The event coincided with the launch of two limited edition whiskies available in Australia online at The Whisky
List: Rioja Cask Finish and Peated Rioja Cask Finish.

These were Drinks Digest’s favourite drams of the masterclass. Bottled at cask strength, they balance bold their ABVs with delicate notes of fruity plum and chocolate. The Peated Rioja is particularly delicious, think roasted nuts and cherry chocolate underlined by an elegant peat smoke.
The masterclass concluded with a Glen Moray Native Old Fashioned featuring Glen Moray Peated Rioja Cask Finish, sherry and walnut and orange bitters.
“The mix of top-quality whiskies from our explorer range alongside a variety of Australian native ingredients has led to a really exciting masterclass,” Allan said.
Glen Moray will round out its Sydney experiences taking the place of honour as Grain Bar’s ‘Spirit of the Month’ from 17 June to 14 July.
The whisky brand will also attend the Melbourne edition of The Whisky Show on 6 July, before making its way to Brisbane on 14 September for The Whisky Show. Both of these come after a successful appearance at the Sydney Whisky Show on 18 May. Secure your tickets here.
