New look unveiled for The Glendronach

The Glendronach has introduced of an innovative new design and creative direction incorporating clean, pared-back packaging and an updated illustration of the bramble and rooks that surround and protect the distillery.

The design is a contemporary homage to The Glendronach brand’s namesake; ‘Valley of the Brambles’ in Scots Gaelic. It also brings to life The Glendronach single malt’s unique combination of robust Highland spirit and the rare Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks from Andalucia in which the whisky is matured.

The refreshed designs will be rolling out first across bottles in The Glendronach label’s award-winning permanent range, including its 12-Year-Old, 15-Year-Old, and 18-Year-Old Single Malts.

The Glendronach Master Blender Rachel Barrie said: “For me, The Glendronach is a surprise, a revelation and a flavour crescendo. At first taste, it has this amplification that’s so much richer than your expectations, and our philosophy is just that – to raise expectations in Single Malt by creating the most exceptional sherried whisky. And we are now setting a new standard to match the exquisite nature of the spirit with reimagined visuals.”

To mark the transformation, The Glendronach has collaborated with renowned Scottish-born portrait photographer and director Rankin.

Famed for capturing the honest beauty of some of the world’s most prominent figures – from Hollywood celebrities to Queen Elizabeth II – Rankin was engaged to capture the balance of tradition and imagination inherent in The Glendronach through moving images.

The resulting images and film, which juxtapose Spanish flamenco dancer Rocio Dusmet Orellana against the backdrop of The Glendronach heritage distillery, creates a visual metaphor highlighting the unique marriage of two worlds, redefining the brand’s image.

Rankin said: “I just loved the initial idea. I know the whisky sector well and this felt genuinely different and exciting to me. I also thrive off creating cultural collisions and finding beauty in the tensions they bring, plus, as a Scot by birth, the idea of bringing Flamenco to the Highlands stirred passion in me that I just couldn’t resist.”

Barrie added“Rankin’s signature style worked harmoniously in magnifying the luxurious and flamboyant nature of The Glendronach. He has beautifully captured the delicate balance of tradition and imagination inherent in our single malt, encapsulating the duality of robust Highland spirit and Spanish flair – a balanced dance – the end result is bold and it crescendos to a revelation in flavour; just like the liquid.”

The refreshed Glendronach core range will be available in Australia from late November 2024 at Dan Murphy’s, BWS, First Choice Liquor and Vintage Cellars bottle shops nationwide. RRP AUD$ $129.99 for 12-Year-Old, RRP AUD$182 for 15-Year-Old and RRP AUD$300 for 18-Year-Old.

Over the next year, The Glendronach portfolio will also welcome a number of new releases including three Master’s Anthology expressions and ultra-premium 21, 30 and 40-Year-Old Single Malts.
