Pickles is holding a major unreserved sale of more 630 lots of fine wine following the closure of Botswana Butchery restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
The Botswana Butchery restaurant chain collapsed in May 2024, with debts of about $23 million.
The auction, under the instruction of Deed Administrator’s BDO, represents a unique opportunity for wine enthusiasts and collectors to acquire premium wine at potentially bargain prices, with bidding starting at just $1. The lots, each comprising approximately 12 bottles, include a diverse range of varietals, essentially encompassing the entire wine list from the Botswana Butchery establishments.
The auction starts at 9am on 15 August 2024. Buyers can bid from anywhere in Australia exclusively via Pickles.com.au. The online listing can be found here.

Pickles Executive Director, Finance and Advisory Stewart Dodwell said: “This auction provides a rare chance for wine lovers and collectors to access an exceptional range of premium wines at starting prices well below market value. The collection includes wines that would typically be enjoyed in top-tier dining settings, now available to the highest bidder.”
BDO National Leader of Business Restructuring Duncan Clubb said: “The Administration and Deed Administration of the Botswana Butchery restaurants has been a complex process. This auction will recover value for creditors. We encourage wine enthusiasts to participate in what promises to be a highly competitive and exciting event.”
