Champagne Specialist Program launches in Australia

The Champagne Bureau Australia has announced the launch of a new and internationally recognised course of study, the Champagne Specialist Program.

The program is a professional Champagne training program that has been created by a dedicated education department of Comité Champagne.

Comité Champagne is the official regulatory body of the Champagne Appellation. Based in Épernay, in the heart of Champagne, it represents the interests of Champagne growers, houses and cooperatives. The Comité Champagne is dedicated to maintaining the quality and reputation of Champagne internationally with a network of Champagne Bureaus.

To present the program, the Champagne Bureau Australia has partnered with two of the country’s most respected wine training institutions: Sydney Wine Academy and Adelaide Wine and Spirits School.

“We are excited to bring this specialized program to Australia.” said Champagne Bureau Director John Noble.

“Australia has a dynamic wine and hospitality industry, and we believe that this program will enrich the knowledge and skills of our professionals, helping them to better serve and understand Champagne.”

The new education course is aimed at wine professionals and hospitality industry personnel who want to develop their Champagne knowledge and skills. The program will debut in Sydney and Adelaide as part of the Comité Champagne’s new global education platform.

The program aims to elevate the standards of Champagne service and appreciation within the Australian market.

The new Champagne Specialist Program will provide in-depth knowledge and expertise about the Champagne Appellation. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the history, production methods, and unique characteristics that define Champagne.

The curriculum is part of an international program that includes detailed modules on viticulture, winemaking processes, and the art of Champagne tasting. The program also emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices and the preservation of the Champagne terroir. On completion, participants will be awarded the title of “Champagne Specialist” recognized globally as a mark of excellence in Champagne education.

Australia is currently ranked as the world’s 6th largest export market for Champagne and Noble said the launch of the Champagne Specialist Program in Adelaide and Sydney is an integral of the Comité Champagne’s commitment to global education and the promotion of Champagne culture worldwide.

It is one part of a wide range of engaging learning opportunities including face-to-face training, online courses and
interactive games.
