The Hunter Valley’s Scarborough Wine Co. has launched its first range of wine in a canned format just in time for summer.
Made from the same quality wines in the winery’s existing Offshoot range, the new cans include a White Spritz Vermentino, Rosé Spritz Pinot Noir, Light White Chardonnay and Light Red Tempranillo Joven.
The wines are ready to enjoy, pour into a glass direct from the can or use as the base for a summer cocktail. The Rosé Spritz mixed with grapefruit soda and a dash of vermouth is described by the winemaker as the cocktail of the season, garnished with an orange slice and a sprig of thyme.

Lightweight, recyclable and with a smaller carbon footprint than glass bottles, the range also has a strong focus on sustainability. The Light Red and White Spritz are certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, while the rest of the range will be certified next vintage. The can design was inspired by the thriving eco-system that surrounds the cellar door and vineyards.
“Innovation and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do,” said winemaker Jerome Scarborough. “Whether in the vineyard, the winery or how we connect with wine drinkers, we are always looking for new ways for our customers to enjoy wine. We’ve embraced the opportunity to experiment with exciting new varieties and styles, in a new format.
“Our new cans deliver the same high-quality wine you expect from our family-owned Hunter Valley winery, but with added convenience. We’ve carefully selected lighter, more aromatic varieties perfect for enjoying in the moment. I can’t wait to see people drinking these wines over summer.”
The Scarborough canned wine range is available online here or at the Scarborough cellar door in Pokolbin. They are priced at $36 for a four pack.
