NED Australian Whisky saw sales growth of up to 500% in some retail channels in March, as Australian drinkers turn away from bourbon.
According to the brand, a turbulent period of in American politics has sown disillusionment with Australian consumers, who are increasingly turning to local spirits.
Brand Ambassador Scott Fitzsimons said: “We’ve seen a great spike almost out of nowhere, and it wasn’t until the social media comments and emails to our website started coming in that we realised Aussies are discovering us and making the switch because of what’s going on in the US.
“Australians generally don’t have much patience for people carrying on like a pork chop, and we’re happy to provide a world-class bourbon-style whisky made right here, by Australians, using Australian grains.
“Consumers are telling us it would be un-Australian to drink anything else — and we’re not gonna argue with them!”
The trend was featured last night on ABC News, with consumers openly backing Aussie products and calling out for local alternatives to imported American brands.
NED is a bourbon-style whisky made in Melbourne, using Australian grain and aged in virgin American oak. The multi gold and double-gold medal winner is available through Dan Murphy’s, Liquorland and independent retailers nationwide.
