Act of Treason Reposado has been named the world’s best at the 2025 World Drinks Awards, topping entries from America, Europe, Asia and Australia in the Flavoured & Speciality spirit category.
This years’ awards took place at the Waldorf hotel in the heart of London’s theatre district. The event celebrated the very best drinks, people, companies and places in the ever-growing world of the global drinks industry.
The judges described the Australian-made agave spirit as having “a spicy, hay-like nose with earthy aromas and unripe fruit notes, complemented by a grassy character and light wood. On the palate, there is a delicious agave base with sweet, rounded woody notes, white pepper, and hints of pear and vanilla. The finish is smooth and sophisticated, featuring lingering wood and fruity elements, showcasing its high-quality and authenticity.”
The world’s best spirit win marks back-to-back global victories for the brand, following last year’s win by Act of Treason Blanco in the same category.

Made from 100% Tequilana agave grown in Queensland’s Whitsundays, Act of Treason cannot be called tequila due to denomination of origin laws – similar to Champagne and sparkling wine.
For the second year running Act of Treason has asked to be included in the tequila category as an ‘agave spirit’ but have been denied and instead won the ‘Speciality’ category globally instead.
“It’s no small thing building a new category from scratch, but Australian agave is earning its place on the global stage,” said Top Shelf International CEO Trent Fraser.
“This win is recognition of the incredible work being done by our team who work day-in, day-out on the farm. They don’t always get to see the ‘wow’ response of bartenders around the country while they’re busy harvesting, cooking and distilling, but this is more recognition for all the hard yakka they put in.”
Act of Treason Blanco is available nationwide in Dan Murphy’s, with the Reposado available here.
