MGA announces new CEO

The MGA Independent Businesses Australia Board has announced the appointment of Martin Stirling as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Stirling has been with MGA for the past two and a half years as Director of Legal Services, working closely with members.

“A passionate advocate for independent retailers and businesses, Martin has led our efforts in legal and regulatory reform, industrial relations, and member representation across Australia,” MGA said.

“With deep knowledge of our sector and a strong commitment to delivering for members, Martin will continue to lead MGA’s work to strengthen our industry’s voice, support your businesses, and advocate on your behalf.”

Stirling said: “Independent retailers are the heart of so many communities. I’m honoured to lead MGA and will continue fighting for the issues that matter to our members – whether it’s the scourge of illicit tobacco, cutting red tape, improving workplace laws, or protecting your ability to compete on a fair playing field.

“I’m excited to lead a team of passionate professionals dedicated to supporting our members’ businesses.”

MGA said it was confident that under Stirling’s leadership, the group would continue to grow, advocate and support its members and the industry.

Stirling will commence in his new role as CEO on 1 July 2025.
