The Wrexham Down Under Tour saw it’s official beer, Wrexham Lager, sell out during the first match versus Melbourne Victory Football Club.
Actor Ryan Reynolds and his business partner Rob McElhenney became the owners of Wrexham AFC in 2021 and the new co-owners of Wrexham lager in November 2024.
Wrexham is the oldest lager brewery in Great Britain and was launched in Australia in September 2024, with long-term order agreements secured with BWS and Dan Murphy’s through Hawkesbury Brewing Co.

Hawkesbury Brewing Co said there had been huge fan engagement with the brand during the tour, with an extra truck of beer sent to the stadium for Wrexham’s match against Sydney FC on 15 July.
Ahead of the match, BWS Paddington was transformed into a hub of club pride, with a special in-store fan experience. Fans were given the opportunity to get up close with stars of Welcome to Wrexham, including Wayne Jones, beloved landlord of The Turf Hotel; Ben Foster, former England and Manchester United goalkeeper; and Ben Tozer, ex-club captain and long-throw specialist.
The event also celebrated Wrexham Lager being available at select BWS stores across NSW and Victoria for a limited time.
BWS Head of Retail Marketing & Planning Sarah Chegwidden said: “Wrexham AFC’s rise has captured the hearts of fans around the world, and we’re thrilled to help bring that excitement to Aussie shores.
“At BWS, we love celebrating the sport around the sport, the moments fans share before, during and after the game. This activation is about more than a product on the shelf, it’s about connecting fans with the culture, energy and spirit of the club they love.”
