The first-ever 25hours Hotel in Australia – The Olympia – will open later this month in Sydney, with a hospitality offering that includes two bars: The Mulwray and Monica.
The hotel is located on 1-11 Oxford Street at the intersection of five Sydney Villages – Paddington, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Kings Cross and Moore Park – in the heritage-listed site of the former West Olympia Theatre and the Grand Pacific Blue Room.
The West Olympia Theatre opened in 1911. From 1920 the theatre was renovated and reinvented multiple times, screening everything from cult films to arthouse productions.
In the 1990s, the building reinvented itself as the Grand Pacific Blue Room, one of Sydney’s most fashionable and renowned nightclubs. It became a marquee spot—where Sydney’s creative, entertainment, and media elite came to mingle, dance and be see.

Fast-forward to 2025 and you’ll find The Mulwray within the hotel’s walls. The intimate cocktail and wine bar is named after the iconic Evelyn Mulwray from 1974 film Chinatown. It will hero classic cocktails, bio-dynamic wines and varieties from lesser-known growers.

Rooftop bar Monica will be a lush all-day rooftop oasis that aims to embody the rhythms and rituals of modern Sydney, viewed through a nostalgic 1960s Hollywood filter. Bold patterned floors and local murals will set the tone for the lively nights and easy afternoons.
25hours Hotels is part of Ennismore, a joint venture with Accor, which holds a majority shareholding.
Christoph Hoffmann, Kai Hollmann, Ardi Goldman and Stephan Gerhard were the founders and creative minds behind
the 25hours brand, which was built from 2005 and today operates 17 hotels in prime European destinations such as Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, Copenhagen and Florence as well as in the international metropolises of Jakarta and Dubai.
The Olympia will officially open its doors on 25 September 2025.
