Celebrate World Champagne Day with Huon Hooke

October 24 is International Champagne Day and The Real Review is celebrating with a dinner hosted by its founder Huon Hooke.

Champagne Day was created in 2009 by Californian blogger and wine tutor Chris Oggenfus. Over the years, more and more wine lovers around the world have participated in the celebration, which has become the universal event for Champagne lovers.

The Real Review is marking this year’s Champagne Day a few days early with a dinner at Sydney’s Brasserie & Bar on October 21.

Hooke is Australia’s leading independent wine writer and his tasting team at The Real Review reviews around 10,000 wines each year, focussing on Australia and New Zealand, with international contributors in Italy and England. Since its launch, it has grown its digital platform to more than one million users annually, making it the wine media organisation with the largest reach in Australia and New Zealand.

Among the Champagnes featured at this year’s Champagne Day dinner will be Lallier Réflexion Brut R.020, Champagne Collet Brut Rosé, Pommery Brut Apanage 1874, Champagne Godin & Filles Élevé en Fût Millésime, Devaux Cuvée D Aged 5 years Brut, Champagne Jean-Noël Haton Extra Intense Grand Cru Brut and Drinks Digest’s favourite, Veuve Fourny & Fils A Vertus Premier Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs.

The chefs at The Charles will expertly match each course with the wines.

The Charles is located at 66 King Street, Sydney, with tickets priced at $289 each. Learn more here.
