Tequila Don Julio has unveiled its Birdcage enclosure at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival—the Don Julio Hacienda—an opulent space inspired by the brand’s Mexican heritage.
The launch was attended by Collingwood football star Isaac Quaynor, who made a striking entrance in a custom-designed ensemble by Mexican American designer Willy Chavarria.

“I’ve always been drawn to fashion, heritage brands, and premium experiences; it’s how I express who I am beyond football. For me, it’s where confidence, creativity, and culture all come together,” Quaynor said.
“Wearing Willy Chavarria made me feel powerful. His designs are bold, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in heritage. That’s what draws me to Don Julio as well; there’s real passion and legacy behind the brand. Both Willy and Don Julio represent where tradition meets modern identity, and that connection really resonates with me”.
From the exterior, a striking reflective façade with agave leaf-inspired arches and textured finishes makes an impactful first impression. Traditional Mexican architectural details are reinterpreted through a modern lens, setting the tone for what awaits inside.
Guests are welcomed through a dramatic arched entrance, where curated displays showcase Don Julio’s premium Tequila range setting the tone for a refined, sensorial journey.
Tequila Don Julio also partnered with Dave Robledo to reimagine Don Julio González’s iconic hat. Acclaimed hatmaker and founder of luxury label BAMBAM is known for his work with some of the most recognizable names in the music and film industry, Robledo has created an exclusive, limited-edition collection of three bespoke hats that pay homage to the brand founder and Mexican heritage. The collection was unveiled today on the walls of the Don Julio Hacienda’s secret tasting atelier, providing guests with an up-close look at the artistry of his pieces.
“Each hat in this series is more than an accessory; it’s a statement,” said Robledo.
“The stone tones were inspired by the raw, earthy textures of traditional Mexican architecture, strong, grounded, and timeless. I wanted the collection to reflect the deep cultural roots of the Don Julio brand while staying true to BAMBAM’s ethos of individuality, craftsmanship, and luxury. These pieces are about honoring heritage while creating something bold and modern.”
