Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married Jodie Haydon in Canberra on Saturday, with wedding guests served a very special beer to toast the couple.
Personalised Albo & Jodie lager played a starring role in the celebration, courtesy of Willie the Boatman, a craft brewery in Sydney’s Inner West. The cans were decorated with a picture of the couple and their wedding date.

The PM dropped into the brewery earlier this year and owner Pat McInerney offered to make the custom cans, with Albanese paying for 16 cases.
“Albo called me on the way home, with Jodie, and said how much he loved them … In hindsight I should have kept a four-pack but I was busy toasting to their health,” McInerney told The Guardian.
Located in Albanese’s electorate, the brewery released a limited edition Albo beer—which features a picture of a young Albanese on the can—in 2022. The Pale Ale has gone on to become a fan favourite and permanent release.

On a recent work trip to London, Albanese took a BYO four-pack of Willie the Boatman beers to dinner at 10 Downing Street, the UK prime minister’s official residence.

The PM also officially launched the Inner West Ale Trail in October 2024.
As for Albo’s wedding, there were just 80 guests, including family, friends and colleagues. The ceremony was held on the grounds of The Lodge, the Prime Minister’s official residence in Canberra.
In an official statement the couple said: “We are absolutely delighted to share our love and commitment to spending our future lives together, in front of our family and closest friends.
Haydon was walked down the aisle by her parents Bill and Pauline to Ben Folds’ song The Luckiest. After the ceremony the couple walked back down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s hit Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours).
The bride wore a dress by Sydney designer Romance Was Born, while Albanese’s suit was from MJ Bale. Their wedding bands were from Cerrone Jewellers in Leichhardt, Sydney.
