Sydney’s iconic lift bar returns

InterContinental Sydney’s moving lift bar is returning from 4 March to 4 April 2026, transforming into a five-week Easter destination.

The Southern Hemisphere’s oldest working lift will offer cocktails and paired bites inspired by Italian Easter cakes, rich chocolate and delicate florals.

Guests begin their journey in the lift with a ‘Colomba Mini Martini’, a soft floral martini inspired by the traditional Italian Colomba cake, featuring Four Pillars Yuzu Gin, Mancino Sakura, roasted almond, honey peach mead and orange blossom. This is paired with ‘The Easter Hare’, a mini brioche with smoked salmon, goats’ cheese, and carrot fronds.

The experience continues at The Treasury Bar, where the ‘Chocolate Bloom On The Rocks’, a dessert-inspired cocktail layering Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac, lemon curd, raspberry, and Tempus chocolate liqueur, crowned with a crisp chocolate wafer roll is served alongside the indulgent Treasury Chocolate Nest, featuring single-origin dark chocolate, wattle seed, passionfruit coulis, chocolate nest, and golden eggs.

The Treasury Bar was originally built in 1851 as Sydney’s first purpose-built government office and the building’s historic lift has been preserved since the hotel’s transformation in 1985. For the Easter season, the outside of the lift is dressed in dried floral arrangements with delicate flowers cascading from the ceiling of the inside of the lift to create a garden-like setting.

InterContinental Sydney Director of Bars Mattia Arnaboldi said: “The lift bar allows guests to enjoy a journey through history while savouring inventive cocktails and Easter flavours. This year we’ve elevated the experience with spring-inspired florals, rich chocolate, and Italian Easter classics and we can’t wait to welcome guests in.”

The experience is available from Wednesday to Saturday from 5-8pm and is priced at $75 per person. Learn more here.
