New events director for The Whisky List

The Whisky List has appointed Scott Allan as its new Events Director following David Ligoff stepping down from the role.

Ligoff has turned his focus to bespoke whisky tourism, launching with Maltstock Down Under in Tasmania from 15–17 May 2026.

Allan led his first The Whisky Show in Canberra on 14 March 2026, helping deliver a memorable experience for whisky lovers.

Allan’s journey began in Sydney’s cocktail and whisky scene, working across venues such as The Lobo, Assembly Bar, Trolley’d, The Swinging Cat and NOLA Smokehouse & Bar. His time managing one of Australia’s most extensive American whiskey collections helped shape a philosophy that continues to guide him today — that great drinks are only part of what makes an experience truly special.

After joining The Whisky List in an on-premise sales role, Allan (pictured above with The Whisky List co-founder Oliver Maruda) quickly became an integral part of the events side of the business, contributing to tastings, bartender training and the continued evolution of The Whisky Show experience.

“The Whisky Show is a place that welcomes everyone — whether you’re just starting your whisky journey or have been collecting for years. It’s a privilege to be part of creating those shared moments,” Allan said.

Celebrating its 15th year, The Whisky Show was founded on a simple idea to share new, boutique and exceptional whiskies.
