Long-running Australian cocktail competition The Suntory Cup is back for 2026, hosted by Club Suntory.
The launch marks 40 years since the establishment of Club Suntory in 1986 and this year’s program highlights the theme of “Celebration.”
Since its inception, Club Suntory has partnered with bartenders and the hospitality industry, fostering talent, sharing stories and creating memorable moments as an education and networking platform for this community.
Hospitality professionals from all backgrounds have been invited to participate in this year’s competition by crafting a cocktail that embodies the essence of celebration – something truly deserving of a toast.
Whether it’s a birthday, holiday, anniversary or significant achievement like a career milestone or sporting victory, participants are encouraged to capture that special moment in a unique cocktail experience that brings people
together.

Suntory Oceania Head of Advocacy John Galiatsatos said: “Celebrating 40 years of support for the hospitality industry is a remarkable milestone that fills us with pride.
“From its inception, Club Suntory has been dedicated to creating opportunities for others to shine. I can’t wait to see how our community embodies this year’s theme of celebration, and how the next generation will continue the legacy of excellence and creativity that Club Suntory represents throughout Australia.”
In addition to the mentorship and opportunities for career and community growth associated with the competition, two winners will share a prize of $40,000, commemorating the 40 years of Club Suntory. It includes a trip to Europe, featuring a visit to Edinburgh and Islay, the home of Suntory Global Spirits’ Scotch brands Laphroaig and Bowmore.
Winners will also attend the Athens Bar Show and receive a cash prize of $10,000 each.
Entrants can compete in one of two categories based on their level of experience:
- Club Omoroi – for bartenders with two years or more of experience behind the bar.
- Club Yatte Minahare – for those with less than two years of experience in drink preparation.
Entries are open from 16 March – 19 May 2026, with the national top 80 announcement on 8 June 2026 and the Grand Final – from 12-13 September 2026.
