Australia’s big winners at the World Gin Awards

The World Gin Awards has revealed its preliminary country winners for 2026, with Australian distillers taking out 10 top honours.

Accolades went to Callington Mill’s Poltergeist Citrus Gin, Archie Rose Distilling’s Signature Dry Gin, Beachtree Distilling’s Native Plum & Sloe Gin, Broken Hill Distillery’s Old Man Saltbush Gin, Ester Spirits’ Old Tom Gin, Poolside Gin’s Contemporary Gin, Pure Origin’s Tasmanian Gin and Never Never’s Juniper Freak Gin.

Announced in London, the accolades included Callington Mill’s Poltergeist Citrus Gin was named Country Winner, for its London Dry Gin, a notable achievement in the style’s spiritual home.

This marks the second consecutive year Poltergeist Citrus Gin has claimed the title. Giving the gin its citrus spin, the expression champions notes of lime, orange and lemon myrtle.

Callington Mill founder John Ibrahim said: “The Poltergeist range has been an exciting playground for us at Callington Mill. It’s allowed us to explore bold, flavour-driven and barrel-aged styles that, while deceptively simple in their construction, deliver a layered and complex gin for a discerning palate.”

It was also an exciting win for Ester Spirits, following its Old Tom also taking out the top award at the 2025 Australian Gin Awards with its Old Tom gin – the first-ever Old Tom to win a Best in Show accolade.

Global winners in the World Gin Awards will be announced on June 2 in London, where the Australian Country Winners will go head-to-head in their categories with leading international expressions.
