South Australian wine brand Y Series has launched Sunset Red – a Shiraz that puts a fresh spin on how red wine is enjoyed.
Created for a new wave of wine drinking occasions, Sunset Red taps into a growing appetite among Millennials and Gen Z for fresher, brighter red styles that feel modern and approachable.
Think modern pairings, like Sunset Red and your favourite Thai takeaway or sticky BBQ pork ribs, rather than traditional steak and shiraz pairings.
While Shiraz is traditionally served at room temperature, Sunset Red breaks conventions, and can be enjoyed as it is or slightly chilled, to bring a refreshing twist to the classic varietal.
“A gentle chill lifts the fruit and sharpens the wine’s energy. Sunset Red is still unmistakably Shiraz but brighter and more expressive. Its full of juicy red berries with a freshness that suits how people gather, eat and unwind, whether through the cooler or warmer months.”
If chilling, the ideal temperature sits around 12-15°C, Sunset Red only needs 20-30 minutes in the fridge before pouring or can be kept cool in an ice bucket when entertaining.
Bright ruby in colour, Sunset Red has aromas of ripe boysenberry and raspberry with hints of soft liquorice, violets and a touch of blueberry cheesecake. Light to medium-bodied, it features juicy pomegranate, cranberry and rhubarb flavours with a gentle sweetness.
Sunset Red is available at Dan Murphy’s stores nationally at RRP $15.
