Are you game to try an Irish Bloody Mary?

The Gopher has given the Bloody Mary a makeover, with three new additions to its menu that bring a uniquely Irish twist to the classic cocktail.

The Irish bar open beneath Manly Corso in May. Located below street level, the venue is designed to pull visitors back in time – early 1900s Irish in its bones, with worn textures, aged finishes and carefully sourced details like reclaimed century-old lighting and internationally-sourced vintage fixtures.

There’s nothing old world about The Gopher’s Spice Bag Bloody Mary ($24). Made with vodka, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce and house-made spice bag sauce, it’s served with a garnish of the pub’s best-selling spice bag chicken and chips.

If you’ve missed the spice bag wave that’s swept the country, it’s a popular Irish fast-food dish made with crispy salt and chilli chips, shredded fried chicken, peppers, and onions tossed together in a paper bag with a fragrant spice blend.

And now it’s in cocktail form. Bottoms up!

The Gopher is also serving a Guinness Bloody Mary ($30), made with vodka, tomato juice, a Guinness reduction, fish sauce, soy sauce and tabasco, and served with black pudding Scotch egg.

For those who don’t fancy a blood-sausage egg in their Bloody Mary, the Gopher Bloody Mary ($22), is made with vodka, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, fish sauce, soy sauce and tabasco, and finished with a garnish of gherkin and celery.

You’ll find The Gopher at 40 The Corso, Manly NSW.
