Maybe Sammy ranks among world’s top bars

Maybe Sammy has been named among the 2026 Top 500 Bars, the only Australian bar to place in the global 100 this year.

Founded in 2019 by Vince Lombardo and Stefano Catino, Maybe Sammy took 31st place on this year’s list.

The Top 500 Bars ranking takes a data-led approach, drawing on thousands of sources across more than 20 languages, including industry rankings, media coverage, reviews, social media and search data.

Catino said: “We’re incredibly proud to see Maybe Sammy recognised at no.31 in the Top 500 Bars.

“For us, these moments always come back to the team and the work they put in every day to keep the bar moving forward. We’ve had an amazing journey since opening in 2019, and to still be part of the global conversation is something we never take for granted.

“We’re also very proud to be representing Sydney and Australia alongside such a strong bar community.”

Elsewhere for Australia, Melbourne’s  Caretaker’s Cottage placed at no.109, just outside the Top 100, while Above Board ranked no.155.

Cantino said the Maybe team continues to evolve its approach to cocktails and hospitality, most recently with Showtime, its annual cocktail collection inspired by cult film and television moments.

The 12-drink menu is accompanied by a series of short films written and performed by the bartenders themselves, bringing together theatre, technique and the playful spirit that has become a hallmark of Maybe Sammy.
