Celebrity wines often get a caning from wine experts, but Invivo Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough X, Sarah Jessica Parker, has made it into the Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2020.
Each year, Wine Spectator editors survey the wines reviewed over the previous 12 months and select their Top 100, based on quality, value, availability and excitement. These 100 bottles were chosen from an incredible 15,000 wines.
“This year’s list is a diverse group, ranging from up-and-coming labels and regions to traditional estates exploring new directions,” said Thomas Matthews, Executive Editor, Wine Spectator. “Throughout 2020, the state of wine has remained strong, dynamic and resilient. We are excited to showcase this year’s Top 100 wines, and for our readers to enjoy them.”
Coming in at No.66, Invivo Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough X, Sarah Jessica Parker, was described as “succulent and refreshing, with key lime, preserved ginger and green apple candy flavours that are intense and focused. Reveals a hint of toasted green tea on the juicy finish.”
The actress is equally enamoured with her wine, noting: “I’m mad for it. I was terrified I wouldn’t be able to say that when the first bottle arrived. But it’s delectable!”
The Sauvignon Blanc started winning awards soon after its launch, scooping Blue Gold at the Sydney International Wine Competition in 2019.
SIWC judge Andrea Pritzker MW described it as having: “Lively aromas of passionfruit and fresh-cut grass. Crisp and fresh displaying passionfruit intensity and floral overtones.”
It’s since received six gold medals in international wine competitions and three 90+ ratings. SJP has been involved in the process, from blending the wine, to designing the label and merchandise, and even sitting on the board of the company.

The Sauvignon Blanc has now sold more than 500,000 bottles worldwide in 12 months. It’s available in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Greece, Ukraine, Cyprus, Japan, France and in Australia this year. Invivo X, SJP recently launched a Rosé from the South of France and the new 2020 vintage of Sauvignon Blanc is coming soon.

Invivo protests shipping delays
Having trouble getting your hands on Sarah Jessica Parker’s award-winning wine? Heavily congested ports in Auckland – and in other ports around New Zealand – have been causing shipping delays since October.
The desperate founders of Invivo, the New Zealand company that creates the range, staged a sea protest before Christmas to highlight the supply issues they are facing. Among the reasons for the backlog are a COVID-19 related delay in a major automation project at the Ports of Auckland, a staff shortage at the port, and a 20-25% increase in demand for consumer goods.
