Brisbane has been confirmed as the host of the 2032 Olympic Games and the city’s iconic XXXX Brewery is saying cheers to the big event.
The brewery announced earlier this year that it was throwing its weight behind Brisbane’s bid to host the 2032 Summer Olympic Games.
Patrick Donohue, XXXX Sales Director, welcomed the IOC’s announcement that Brisbane had received ‘preferred bid status’.
“The XXXX Brewery has proudly been making beer for Australians on Milton Road for more than 142 years – and in 2028 will celebrate its 150th birthday,” Donohue said.
“We have a long history of supporting the Sunshine State’s biggest sporting events, but the prospect of hosting the Olympic Games in Brisbane and putting everything that is great about Queensland on the world stage is nothing short of extraordinary.
“As Australians, we all remember the enormous excitement around the build up to the Sydney Olympics in 2000, and to be able to replicate and build on that feeling in Brisbane 32 years later will mean so much to so many.
“XXXX will be there every step of the way – and we hope to celebrate many more GOLD moments on the journey to 2032.”
The brewery’s parent company Lion took to social media last night to celebrate the Brisbane win, with the Games scheduled to be hosted in the Queensland capital from July 23 to August 8, 2032.

In 2017, Lion struck a deal for XXXX Gold to sponsor the 2018 edition of the Commonwealth Games, which took place in Australia’s Gold Coast region. Brands from across the XXXX family, including Summer Bright Lager, were sold in Games venues and at festival zones throughout the Gold Coast and three event cities Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns.
XXXX Gold also served as the official beer of the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.
